Balmy Beach Pet Hospital is equipped with the latest state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, allowing us to run blood and urine tests, along with microscopic tests such as skin scrapings & cytology on your pet. This means that your pet can be diagnosed and treated right away. Most tests results are available within 30-45 minutes! The following tests may be recommended to establish some baselines for your pet, or determine what the problem might be.

Complete Blood Count (CBC) – this test looks at the blood cells including red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets, quickly allowing us to determine if the pet has anemia, dehydration, infection, inflammation, bleeding issues and much more.

Biochemistry results allow us to rule out issues with the organs, such as the liver, kidneys, pancreas, thyroid, whether your pet has diabetes and lots more.

Urinalysis – this is preferably done on a fresh urine sample to look for crystals in the urine, indications of stones in the bladder, or infections of the urinary tract etc.
